Once the device is powered on (and when the initial installation is terminated) depending on its configuration and modality and depending on the connections previously created, the thin client will show the desktop and eventually launch the connections.
For more information about modality see the "User Interface" paragraph in the User Interface chapter.
For more information about connections see the Connections Manager chapter.
By default, the generic thin client will present its desktop and its taskbar on the bottom of the desktop.
When a ThinMan Server is not installed on the network or it is not reachable from the thin client, the thin client will notify this condition showing a message on the desktop for few seconds right after the bootstrap phase.
If you have an installed ThinMan Server on the network please check the connection or verify the configuration (see ThinMan configuration applet).
If you don't have an installed ThinMan Server don't worry about the message.
Important Tip: use ThinMan Server
To obtain the best in terms of automatic configuration of the ThinOX devices use the ThinMan Server to manage them properly. To obtain the best features on the ThinMan Server you have to configure the ThinOX device to "points" to its ThinMan Server. Read this chapter to obtain this result: ThinMan Configuration. Read the ThinMan User Guide to have more information on available features of ThinMan Server (to start a good page could be: How to Setup ThinMan Address on Thin Client).
In this example, the thin client is connecting to a Citrix Infrastructure on a C9010 model using the PNAgent Site (remember that the connection can be changed to use the Web Interface through a browser or the Self Service User Interface).
This device model starts always in Kiosk Modality (see "User Interface" paragraph under User Interface chapter).
See C9010 - How to access the Connection Manager and the Settings window chapter for more information on how to access the Connection Manager and the Configuration Settings window.
From the Connection Manager window you can change the configuration of the single connection (e.g. change server address, change connection
parameters, etc.).
The thin client can be powered off or rebooted by many different ways depending also on the thin client models:
Depending on the action a window may be shown requesting to select the type of operation to be executed. After 10 seconds if there is no selection from the user, the device is powered off.
Depending on the thin client model the "Suspend" button could be shown or not. "Suspend" will freeze the status of the thin client in the memory; in this case, the next time the power button is pressed the resume of the thin client is really fast (few seconds) (remind that using the Power On command from ThinMan will also resume the devices from it sleeping status). Please notice that if you unplug the power cord of a device when it is suspended, then the actual status of the device is lost and the thin client will reboot normally.
On the left part of the taskbar (available if the thin client is configured with the Desktop Modality), you can easily change the volume of the thin client.
Click on the speaker icon to show the Volume Control widget. The volume modified using this widget is not saved as a thin client property but it is reset to the default on the next reboot (see Sound Configuration chapter for more information on how to set a default value for the volume).
