With a virtualization infrastructure, it is essential to manage locally connected USB devices within the remote virtual desktop using optimised technology. This is achieved by redirecting the USB protocol from the local device to the virtual desktop, efectively forwarding the communication path-- a process known as USB Redirection.
USB redirection technology is available on most major virtualization platforms, such as Citrix and VMware; however, configuring and fine-tuning USB settings can be challenging. Additionally, USB redirection policies are typically managed server-side for convenience, often overlooking any customizations for the endpoint.
Praim's Agile has resolved this challenge by providing a dedicated interface within the Agile configurator, streamlining the setup and customization of USB Redirection settings.
The Agile USB Redirection settings panel enables you to configure USB Redirection for both Citrix and VMware platforms. Simply select the corresponding tab to define the settings for the desired virtualization platform. Clicking on a manufacturer's name will activate its specific tab. The panel supports simultaneous USB Redirection configurations for Citrix and VMware, allowing concurrent virtual connections to operate seamlessly on the same local device.
Brand USB Redirection sharing settings
When connecting to multiple farms within a specific platform (Citrix or VMware), the USB Redirection settings will be shared across all connections to those separate virtual desktops.
Each USB Redirection tab provides the following options:
USB Redirection Settings Management and Deployment
All Citrix and VMware USB redirection options and rules can be managed and deployed through ThinMan Device profiles. For more details see the ThinMan Profile Manager.USB redirection settings and rules are deployed to the device through Device Profiles. User profiles do not apply USB Redirection settings.
