ThinMan Gateway uses specific network ports to communicate with remote devices. When remote devices are behind either a firewall or a router, it may be necessary to configure those ports for ThinMan Gateway to get access to the remote devices.
The following tables describe the ports used by ThinMan Gateway: Incoming Ports are those listened by the ThinMan Gateway, Outgoing Ports are those connected by ThinMan Gateway on other devices.
ThinMan Server Ports
The ThinMan Server has to be reachable over the Internet so that multiple ThinMan Gateways can communicate with it.There are many ways to obtain this configuration and they depend on your network configuration and on the availability of a public IP Address. Two different and simple solutions can be:
- publish the Windows Server (where the ThinMan is installed) on the Internet (in this case you must have a public IP Address dedicated to the server);
- NAT the 443 port on the router or the firewall so that it is redirected to the port 443 of the server where the ThinMan is installed (in this case the port 443 of the public IP address is dedicated to the ThinMan Server).
You can test the reachability of the ThinMan Server from the ThinMan Gateways using the test button explained in the Configuring ThinMan Gateway Application G1000W chapter.
ThinMan Gateway does not need to publish ports over the Internet
Due to the use of WebSocket technology you don't need to publish the ThinMan Gateways over the Internet.
