ThinMan services unavailable during update
During the ThinMan Server update all ThinMan services will be unavailable. For more information about ThinMan operation mode and high availability see ThinMan Operation Modes and High Availability Software Architecture.
Backup before update
We recommend either
- To take a snapshot of the virtual machine. or
- To take a ThinMan Backup. Please note that the ThinMan Backup procedure generates files specific to the ThinMan version in use. These backup files cannot be applied during a Restore procedure for a different ThinMan version. Ensure you have the corresponding ThinMan installer available in case you need to restore a previous version. For example, if you are updating ThinMan from version 8.2.3 to 8.6.3, you must first backup your ThinMan 8.2.3 installation. After upgrading to 8.6.3, should you need to roll back, you will need to uninstall ThinMan, reinstall version 8.2.3, and then restore the backup.
The update of the ThinMan Single Server (either internal or external database) is a simple and fast procedure. The installer will update the Local Console and when needed, the database schema.
