Device Update allows to update the firmware on a ThinOX based thin client. It can also be use to install the Add-on packages available for ThinOX O.S.
Device Configuration
The device configuration will not be lost after the upgrade unless it has been declared on the release notes an incompatibility.
Upgrading from ThinOX 11 to ThinOX 12 When upgrading from ThinOX11 to ThinOX12, the device will change family device. Hence, if the device is under a profile, verify there is a configuration set compatible with the new family. For more information, read Why does the device lose its profile after upgrading from ThinOX11 to ThinOX12?
Before proceeding with the update
Download the firmware update file from MyPraim and add it to the Package Repository.
Right click on one or more devices and click on Device Update, it will open the Package Repository, it will show only the files that are compatible with the selected devices. Select the corresponding package and click on OK to proceed.
It will be asked if you are sure to update the firmware with the package selected. Press Yes to proceed with the update.
Remind that the update is executed in a smart mode that limits the amount of data sent to the device. The data transmitted are only the packages differences between the initial firmware version and the final firmware version.
After a few seconds, ThinMan starts upgrading the thin client. At the end of the process, the thin client reboots.
Automated updates
ThinMan allows programming the update through an Scheduled Activity or through an Event Activities. E.g. either creating an schedule activity to update all devices at 11 p.m. or creating an event activity that allows updating all devices before they are turned off.
