In some cases lowering the resolution of the video card (respect the monitor native resolution) using the standard "Screen Resolution" menu obtained by right clicking the wallpaper, will produce an unexpected result like the one showed in the picture above.
The monitor shows a black border and the new video card resolution is not stretched to cover the entire monitor.
To solve this issue you can use two different methods.
Right-click on the wallpaper to show the contextual menu.
From the contextual menu select "Graphic Options" -> "Panel Fit" and click on "Maintain Display Scaling" attribute.
This will cover the entire monitor area with the resolution previously configured.
Warning
Depending on the monitor and/or from selected resolution the "Maintain Display Scaling" option could not be available. In this case use the "Center Image" option or change the resolution until the option return available.
Instead of using the "Display settings" menu use the "Graphic Properties..." menu.
Right click on the wallpaper and select the "Graphic Properties..." menu.
A new window is opened. Click on the "Display" box menu.
Select from the "Resolution" combo-box the new desired video card resolution.
From the "Scaling" section select the "Maintain Display Scaling" option, this option will cover the monitor area with the selected resolution.
Warning
Depending on the monitor and/or from selected resolution the "Maintain Display Scaling" option could not be available. In this case use the "Center Image" option or change the resolution until the option return available.
Click on the "Apply" button in the right lower part of the window.
Click on "Yes" to keep the new settings and close the window using the "X" placed in the upper right part of the window.
