If you are using 802.1x authentication on your network, the switch needs to be configured. Below it is explained how to configure an HPe Aruba switch.
Use the command below to set the controlled-direction parameter as “in”.
aaa port-access ethernet "port-list" controlled-direction in
The command enables the flooding of packets leaving the switch to the client even if the latter is not authenticated.
Be aware this command also disables the Avesdrop Prevention; consequently, the switch will forward on this port any packet with an unknown destination address and, in general, packets not addressed to that specific client.
Important:
In order to execute the command, it is necessary:
- To configure the port as edge port;
- Enable on the switch, either Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP) or the Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP).
